What customers say about the Military Modular Sleep System

There were lots of positive reviews for this Military Modular Sleep system. For example this is a great all weather sleep system (obviously, that’s why the Army issues them), that you would really have to try to destroy in order to really hurt it. its a great year-round bag because the various bags can snap together. If its hot out, you really only need the Patrol Bag and the Bivy; likewise, when it gets colder, you bring the rest of the system. one of the main downfalls of this Sleep System is that when the entire System is together in the Comp Sack, its rather bulky/heavy when compared to the civilian bags. the bonus, as I have said, is that you can choose, climate permitting, to leave parts of the system at home and cut down on bulk and weight.

Another reviewer stated these are the real deal folks. The camo outer shell is high quality Goretex and thick with excellent hardware. Stitching on all pieces is superb. As advertised, this system is perfect for multi climate missions as the light layer can be stand alone or combined in several combinations. You WILL stay dry and warm. The stuff sack is bulky but with some practice, you can cinch her down nicely. Bag is black and you don’t need to be shy when cinching it.

A reviewer remarked that this is a great system for camping in my area. It gives me plenty of sleep options for my area. For instance, I can grab a three day pack, stuff a poncho liner and the Goretex shell, stuff it in the bottom of the bag, coffee can cook pot, food and fishing rod and hit the trail for a weekend out. And if I switch to a bigger pack, I can easily carry all 4 components and be warm and toasty in the dead of winter (Southeast Texas winter). It really gives you lots of options.

This reviewer mentioned I used the bag and bivy last night on a scout trip. I slept outside on the snow packed ground where the temperature was in the 5-9 degree range. This system performs as advertised. My only issue is with the bivy itself. I was so warm inside the bag and bivy that I had to open up the bivy to let some cool air inside. Then the inside of my bivy (just around the head area) iced over due to condensation (breath) and the below freezing temps.

Good item, but ordering from this page is deceptive. The item described on this page is not the product that ships out. I understand that people are giving the gear positive reviews because it is good gear, but the product being shipped out is not new, in plastic wrapping, still with original tags as described. It is used and in very good to like new condition but that is not what is described on this page so the product fails to meet the description so I am leaving a negative product review. I received a product that was simply stuffed loosely in a shipping box, not wrapped, no tags. It was immediately obvious that it was used by the bags’ worn condition. Also the compression sack was torn through at the bottom. SELLER WILL MAKE YOU PAY RETURN SHIPPING ON AN ITEM THAT WAS DECEPTIVELY AND INACCURATELY LISTED, DAMAGED, AND DIFFERENT FROM THE NEW PRODUCT YOU ORDERED. Be aware that you will get a used product even though it clearly is advertised as new. Sellers are pulling a scam and some people just think the “like new” stuff is actually…

I pushed its limits! I spent two nights in -35 F with 50 mph wind gusts a couple hundred feet from lake Michigan’s shoreline on the tip of WI’s peninsula in a hammock (not normally recommended for winter camping) with a tarp roof. I really wanted to push this thing. I was warm enough to sleep, and I’m not a good sleeper at all. I was still really layered up, and my back and feet definitely got a bit cold from wind blowing under and taking my heat (why hammocks aren’t recommended), but I was still relatively comfortable! I love the heck out of this thing. I really don’t need a tent, and I’ve even spent some warmer nights without a pad by sleeping on top of most of the layers. I can just toss it out where there wouldn’t be sticks poking me, and I’m good to go. Real time saver. Now what I don’t like…It’s heavy, takes up a good amount of space (recommend attaching to a pack and not stuffing it inside one), and accumulates a good amount of condensation (not good for winter). It’s definitely…

Beware if they say NEW, Unused or Unissued. This bag went through hell and back. I would beware, as in my opinion this is FALSE ADVERTISING on the part of Camper’s HAVEN.
