The Grand Trunk Ultralight Camo Hammock provides hikers a comfortable, lightweight sleeping solution instead of a tent during warmer months. Weighing in at a mere 12 ounces, the Grand Trunk Ultralight Travel Hammock wonʼt exactly weigh your pack down. It packs into its own attached stuff sack, but when you need it, it unfolds to a 9.5 length and will hold up to a 250-pound person. So you could bring a three-pound tent and sleeping pad on your next warm-weather trip … or you could skip those altogether, couldnʼt you?

What is good about the Grand Trunk Ultralight Hammock

What customers say about the Grand Trunk Ultralight Hammock

There were lots positive reviews for the hammock. Many reviewers found it unbelievably comfortable. It seems to be the perfect size and design for one person to rest in a perfect position.

Many reviewers talked about weight issues. One stated we purchased two of these hammocks and have used them a couple of times. They’ve held close to 200lbs and so far, so good. They are extremely lightweight and pack up easily in their little pouch, but yet they actually keep us pretty warm. Since they are so lightweight, I would probably not recommend them for long-term use for larger people.

I’ve owned several hammocks made by different companies over the years. None came with ropes long enough to span the distance between most hanging points I would find hiking.

Reviewers talked about the quality. This person mentioned that this is probably one of the cheapest nylon hammocks you can find anywhere, I was honestly concerned about the quality of construction, materials etc… However upon testing the product first hand I was able to put my concerns to rest. I’m not a small guy, 5’10” and about 220. This thing supports me easily. It’s very comfortable and plenty long for me with room to spare. I’ve used it a couple times overnight now. And everything is great. It packs down about the size of a grapefruit.

Nikki Trost says:

quality ultralight steal once caribiners are replaced This hammock is decently wide for a single, and short enough I can use it between virtually any trees. My only problem is that one of my s-hooks bent and dropped me this weekend. They were a little small to use on my tree straps (Eno Atlas-they’re amazing) so I knew I had to fully have the s-hook on the loop in the daisy chain. Well, we hiked up right before dark and I had my mom help me set up. I looked at it after she set it up and thought, “Oh, that looks odd” and went on with starting a fire. Well, it turns out only the tip of the s-hook was on the loop, instead of the loop being fully in the curve of the hook, so when I laid in it (completely cocooned) my weight was on the tip of the hook and bent it out straight. Mind you, it took a 175 lb person, fully bundled, with two sleeping bags (one for normal sleeping bag use, the other as a cocoon outside my hammock to double as an underquilt/top quilt) and I was fidgeting and adjusting and laying there for about 10…

Thomas Backwinkel says:

Ripped After one and a half months and using it about 5 times this hammock ripped open as soon as I sat to lay in it. I weigh 185 lbs. When I first got this hammock I loved it. Exactly what I wanted: small, cheap, lightweight, and compact hammock. I never abused it or had anything in my pockets while laying in it. I would recommend this hammock for lighter people, but I guess it couldn’t handle me. To be safe pay a little extra for the more sturdy model.
