What is good about the Keen Targhee II Hiking Boot

Very comfortable – provides the comfort and support of an athletic shoe and the resilience and protective features of a rough-and-tough hiking boot.  Has a sleek and sporty style and a lace-up front for a custom fit.

Waterproof – keeps your feet dry and your step steady thanks to the rugged style of a  waterproof Nubuck upper, 4-millimeter multi-directional lugs, and a Keen.Dry waterproof membrane. To keep you treading comfortably on all kinds of terrain, the Targhee II features a Keen.Dry insert. This waterproof membrane offers an additional barrier against moisture yet is breathable enough for all-day comfort.

Heel support –  this Keen shoe features a supportive and strong S3 (Shock, suspension and stability) heel structure that absorbs shock, for a stress-free hike. S3 is engineered to support the foot on impact, which dissipates shock, helping to prevent injury to the ankle.

Ankle support – The ESS shank provides torsional stability for a secure ride, while the mid cut height increases ankle support through canyons and over mountain tops.

Metatomical Footbed and EVA Midsole – For comfort and support that won’t quit, the Targhee II features a removable, dual-density EVA footbed that provides arch support by hugging the natural contours of your foot. The compression-molded EVA midsole extends the benefits of the footbed and adds an extra spring to your step.

Reduces foot fatigue – to keep you going longer, the Targhee II has a torsional-stability ESS shank in the midsole. This shank helps to stabilize your foot as you move, minimizing fatigue, so you can enjoy every moment as you push on to the next crest.

Good traction – the aggressive outsole has multi-directional 4mm lugs to spaced wide apart to “bite” into the terrain, giving you more dependable traction on slippery and uneven surfaces.

Toe protection – because rocky objects, roots and debris can trip you up on the trail, the boot includes toe protection that wraps up and over the outsole for thorough coverage of the entire toe bed.

What customers say about the Keen Targhee II Hiking Boot

There were a lot of positive reviews for these women’s hiking boots. Many reviewers stated these are the best hiking boots they have ever owned.

Also regarding comfort reviewers felt these were the best they have ever worn, and that they would not settle for other shoes. Very sturdy.

Several reviewers commented that it features a great tread providing a great grip. One hiker remarked, “used these on the Inca Trail and loved these boots. Never got a single blister and tested it out on all sorts of terrain.” Another said, “traction is awesome with these shoes. The laces stay taunt and never come loose.”

Reviewers for the most part also felt the waterproofing is excellent. The shoe seemed to cushion my foot well and I felt very secure in them. There was plenty of support and the boot was not overly heavy, another important consideration for me

A few reviewers mentioned they have very wide feet and/or rather high arches. One said, “I buy a half size up and they fit wonderfully, no breaking in required. The mid boots help grip my ankle allowing me to wear either summer or winter socks and not have the shoes sliding around on my feet.”

The Reviews are True: No Need to Break-in. I purchased these for a 3 day backpacking trip. I typically wear hiking shoes, however, the terrain we were to be hiking this year was listed as “rugged” and “very difficult” as it was comprised of rock, rocky inclines, long stretches of cratered-rock (that seemed to resemble the surface of the moon), some mild rock climbing, and the presence of venomous snakes. All the reviews of the trail encouraged one to wear hiking boots. I was a little late in committing to hiking boots, and I only wore these for a 3 mile walk before hitting the trail with my 28 lb pack. One of my other hiking companions was accustomed to hiking in running shoes. To our surprise we found that we had both selected the same hiking boot (Keen Women’s Targhee II Waterproof Hiking Boot) to wear on this trip. She literally pulled her boots straight from the box before hitting the trail. So, neither of us had broken our boots in. Our first day on the trail turned out to be the most arduous; we…

Best hiking boots out of a group of 16 people I recently returned from a trip to Peru where I hiked the Inca Trail in the middle of rainy season. I initially googled the best waterproof hiking shoes and these didn’t make the cut, but they were in my price range and I went for it anyway. As expected, it rained at least a little each day and my feet stayed dry for the entire four days and three nights on the trail. I can’t say the same for my fellow hikers. One woman actually bought Salomon hiking boots, which were rated #1, and she was upset about the quality/the fact that her feet were damp. Additionally, these shoes are made to last. The trail was never flat; it was mostly made of uneven stones. I found myself bumping the tops of these shoes on rocks, but they never fell apart. Ankle support was also fantastic.I’m also convinced that these boots are the most comfortable shoes in my closet. I could wear these every day of my life…except I work in a hospital and it would probably be frowned upon. This is…

Best Hiking Boots!! I am so excited I invested in these! I LOVE them, they’re super comfortable and they’re not too heavy. I ordered the neutral grey/mineral blue and the color was somewhat off from the photos on Amazon. The mineral grey is more of an deep army green but I actually don’t mind it. (The photos show more of a grey brown.) I am also a street size 7.5 so I ordered an 8 since the Keen website suggested to go half a size up. They fit just right with not too much extra space left. If I would have gotten an 8.5 it would have been too big. I just trim my toenails as short as possible and that way my nails won’t bruise. I recommend these to anyone that’s looking for good quality hiking boots!
