Timberland Women’s White Ledge Mid Ankle Boot Review

The Timberland Women’s White Ledge Mid Hiking Boot is comfortable and sturdy providing needed traction along the trails.

What is good about the Timberland White Ledge

They are waterproof –  with seam sealed waterproof construction, premium full grain leather and waterproof impregnated properties which become part of the leather during the tanning process your feet are sure to remain dry in any weather conditions while hiking in the backcountry.

B.S.F.P – is the motion efficiency system which features an active rubber lug outsole for excellent traction. Timberland has figured out that with each step your foot goes through four motions including braking, supporting, flexing and propelling. So these boots are constructed to provide improved traction and longer wearing performance design features to support those four motions.

Very comfortable – these boots are made from premium waterproof leather with a padded collar and tongue for additional comfort. I hate it when a small stone gets in my boot so these have a fully gusseted tongue to help keep any debris from along the trail out.

Cushioning – the cushioned EVA footbed provides underfoot comfort and disperses shock.

Timberland quality – they set new industry standards for craftsmanship, durability and protection when it introduced an authentic, waterproof leather boot in 1973. A global leader in design, engineering and marketing of premium footwear, Timberland values consumers who cherish the outdoors and their time in it. Timberland has been an industry leader in the use of both sustainable and recycled materials in its shoes, as well as its footwear packaging.

What customers say about these Women’s Timberland Hiking Boots

There were a number of excellent reviews for these boots. Many reviewers commented that they are a good all round hiking boot that some use at work, in the garden and other places.

Reviewers remarked that they found these boots very sturdy, comfortable and lightweight. They are well-crafted and solidly constructed with intensive gripping for ice and snow.

A number of reviewers stated they are very stiff at first and take a few days to break in.

One reviewer said,” very good hiking boot! I average about 9 hours of hiking on trails of moderate difficulty per week. Timberland boots seem much more sturdy than other (more famous) boots.”

Also there were mixed reviews about how waterproof they are. One reviewer said I would call them water resistant, for short ventures in the rain while another mentioned

I’ve worn them in the snow and rain, though, with no leakage problem. A long time user of several pairs felt when they’re fairly new, they’re good in the rain, snow and puddles but as they get older or under worse conditions, they are not waterproof.

Archaeology! Update 9/13/2016 — These boots successfully survived 2 weeks of field school in rural North Carolina and 6 weeks on an island in Spain. That’s long wearing time, every day usage. I still find these boots to be extremely comfortable and supportive. The island I was working on in spain and somewhat rugged terrain and these no doubt saved me from rolling my ankle on more than one occasion. The traction was great for hiking along seaside cliffs. Definitely recommend!I’m writing this review to help fellow archaeologists determine if this boot is right for their needs. If you have any questions pretaining to these boots and field work, let me know!I’ve been wearing these boots for about a week, they required very little break in time as it was ony necessary to soften up the leather where the toes bend while walking. I have been wearing these for about a week, three days of which have been 8 hours per day of field work in North Carolina. They have kept dry and…

Would recommend going up half a size They look great and I can tell that they’re excellent quality. However, after reading the reviews about these being true to size, I went ahead and ordered the usual size that I wear in other shoes, which is a 6.5, but I wish I would have ordered a half a size larger because my toe hits the boot very harshly. I ordered these boots for rigorous hiking and buying your usual size in shoes is not a good idea. I will be exchanging for a size 7 and I would recommend going up a half size in order to accommodate comfortable socks and have enough room for swollen feet after 10 mile hikes.

Great for wide feet and waterproof. Does not need to be broken in. So far I love these shoes. It rains a lot where I live so it’s pretty waterproof. The best thing I like about these shoes is the ability to select the width. I have wide feet so it fits perfectly with a pair of hiking socks. My toes are not squashed together and it’s been very comfortable. Oh, it’s also very lightweight considering how solid it feels and looks.**UPDATE** Finally wore them all day today walking around for 8 hours for the first time. They did not require any breaking in. There were no blisters, issues or tight spots cramping my small toe like most other shoes I’ve bought. I also wore them with socks and this is in Hawaii where it’s hot and pretty humid so your feet is expanded and at its largest. I’m updating my review to 5 stars from my original 4 stars.
